HbA1c (Glycated Haemoglobin) Test at Home in Srinagar
Your 3-month blood sugar average — the standard test for diabetes monitoring.
What does the HbA1c Test measure?
HbA1c measures the percentage of haemoglobin that has glucose attached to it. Because red blood cells live for about 90 days, HbA1c reflects your average blood glucose over the past 2–3 months. It is both the primary diagnostic test for type 2 diabetes and the standard way to monitor how well diabetes is being controlled.
Why does it matter?
A single fasting glucose reading can be affected by yesterday's meal or stress. HbA1c smooths out these variations, giving a reliable long-term picture. An HbA1c between 5.7% and 6.4% indicates pre-diabetes — a window in which lifestyle changes can fully reverse the trajectory. Above 6.5% meets the diagnostic threshold for type 2 diabetes.
Who should get this test?
- People already diagnosed with type 2 or type 1 diabetes who need regular monitoring
- Anyone with a family history of diabetes or pre-diabetes
- Adults over 35 doing an annual health check
- People with obesity, high blood pressure, or high triglycerides
- Women who had gestational diabetes during pregnancy
