Insulin Resistance (Fasting Insulin + HOMA-IR) Test at Home in Srinagar
Catch metabolic dysfunction years before blood sugar becomes diabetic.
What does the Insulin Resistance Test measure?
Insulin resistance occurs when your cells stop responding efficiently to insulin, the hormone that moves glucose from blood into cells for energy. To compensate, your pancreas produces more and more insulin. A fasting insulin blood test measures how much insulin your body needs to maintain normal fasting glucose. HOMA-IR is a calculated score using both fasting glucose and fasting insulin.
Why does it matter?
Insulin resistance is the root driver of type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, PCOS, and much of the cardiovascular risk associated with obesity and metabolic syndrome. It can exist for years — even decades — before fasting glucose becomes elevated. Standard HbA1c and fasting glucose checks will miss early insulin resistance. A fasting insulin test finds the problem much earlier.
Who should get this test?
- Young adults with weight gain around the abdomen despite normal diet
- Women with PCOS or irregular periods
- Anyone with a strong family history of type 2 diabetes
- People with fatigue, sugar cravings, or afternoon energy crashes
- Anyone whose fasting glucose is in the 95–99 mg/dL 'normal but borderline' range
