Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) Test at Home in Srinagar
Screening for the world's most common serious liver infection — before it causes damage.
What does the Hepatitis B Test measure?
The Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) test detects the presence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) surface protein in the blood. A positive result indicates either acute or chronic hepatitis B infection.
Why does it matter?
Hepatitis B is a leading cause of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer globally. Millions carry the virus without knowing it. HBsAg screening enables early detection, which allows antiviral treatment that dramatically reduces the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer. It is also required before vaccination — you cannot receive the hepatitis B vaccine if you are already infected.
Who should get this test?
- All pregnant women (routine antenatal screening)
- Healthcare workers and first responders
- Family members of HBsAg-positive individuals
- Anyone before blood donation, surgery, or vaccination
