Lipid Panel (Full Cholesterol) Test at Home in Srinagar
Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides — the foundational cardiovascular check.
What does the Lipid Panel measure?
A lipid panel measures four key blood fats: total cholesterol, LDL (low-density lipoprotein, the 'bad' cholesterol), HDL (high-density lipoprotein, the 'good' cholesterol), and triglycerides. It is the standard starting point for assessing cardiovascular risk.
Why does it matter?
High LDL and triglycerides accelerate arterial plaque formation, while low HDL reduces the heart's protective mechanism. The ratio between these values gives a clearer risk picture than any single number alone. In South Asia — including Kashmir — cardiovascular disease strikes earlier than in Western populations, making routine lipid screening especially important.
Who should get this test?
- All adults over 30 with no prior lipid testing
- Anyone with a family history of heart disease or stroke
- People with diabetes, hypertension, or abdominal obesity
- Patients already on cholesterol-lowering medication wanting to monitor effect
