Ferritin (Iron Stores) Test at Home in Srinagar
The best single marker for total body iron — catches deficiency before anaemia sets in.
What does the Ferritin Test measure?
Ferritin is a protein that stores iron inside cells. A blood ferritin test measures how much stored iron your body has. It falls long before haemoglobin drops, meaning you can be iron-depleted and symptomatic while your haemoglobin still looks normal on a standard CBC.
Why does it matter?
Iron deficiency is among the most common nutritional deficiencies in the world, affecting women of reproductive age and vegetarians disproportionately. Low ferritin causes fatigue, hair loss, poor concentration, restless legs, and impaired athletic performance. Catching low ferritin early allows correction with diet or supplementation rather than IV iron.
Who should get this test?
- Women with heavy or prolonged menstrual periods
- Vegetarians, vegans, or those with poor dietary iron intake
- Anyone with persistent unexplained fatigue, hair loss, or brain fog
- Athletes experiencing poor recovery or endurance decline
- People with gut conditions (Crohn's, celiac) that impair iron absorption
